Description: This course will introduce the basic principles of ecology, an integrative branch of science that deals with the relationships of living things to one another and to their environment. It is designed with the novice naturalist or gardener in mind as well as those wishing to fulfill a core requirement for the Native Plant Studies Certificate. We will combine classroom and field experiences that focus on topics that can be considered with respect to native plant species in North Carolina, including levels of ecological organization, energy flow, nutrient cycling, environmental factors, climate change, and human influences. (Please bring your lunch)
