2034. ISSUES IN COMPOSITION: Monday, 7-9pm, January 23-February 27 (6 weeks)
This course is an introduction to compositional theory that will help students take a closer look at how to develop a visually effective painting. Compositional concepts like the Golden Section, Strong Diagonal, S-Curve, L-Shape and others will be presented. Shapes, values and colors and how they impact composition will also be discussed. Students will be encouraged to bring in their own subject matter, use photo references provided by the instructor, or paint from still-lifes while they explore the use of these compositional approaches each week. This course is open to students who have a year or more of painting experience.
