I do write when the mood strikes me, though I rarely share it with others. I have practically a whole novel tucked away at this point. I find a lot of my inspiration just being out and about around other people. When I have the time, I like to spend the whole day on public transport just writing down bits and pieces of conversations and making observations about others.

I used to go out five or six nights a week but have grown pretty bored with the whole bar scene. If I do go to a bar, as of late, it is by myself to watch Tigers baseball with my fellow suffering lifetime fans. I love going to shows, and Chapel Hill is a great place to check out new bands and old favorites.

Hi! I tend to be a Capricorn ISTJ type (look it up if this isn't familiar), but that, like most other generalities, has its limits. Like most people, I was born. To do what is still up in the air. I have followed a great many trajectories that have yet to reach their apex. I write, but I think I may be more talented at critiquing the writing of others, which makes me often wonder if I'm meant to work alone or in a pair. I've lived in a lot of different types of places. I've spent as much time in a small apartment in New York City as I have on a farm in South Carolina. I know how to catch the subway and a catfish. I've also lived in the North, the South, the Middle East, the midwest...

I am ruled by the world of travel and my emotions. My intellect may be a habitus which encompasses both, and it may be an aspect which many people notice first about me, but the heart of what pushes me forward is where I've been and where I can go and how I feel when I am there (or getting there). As for my emotions, I am very open to everyone I meet, which I am told again and again is a weakness but I believe actually will be one of my greatest strengths. I often tear up when talking to those I love because of the strengths of my feelings (I also cried when I saw Chaucer's grave in England). My voice shakes when I am defending an opinion I feel deeply for. I cannot help but smile when I am happy or see someone I am smitten with. So I may never be the best of poker players, but everything I do will be done with the greatest of heart.

Spit-flyin' radical! Plays well with others, mostly. Not particularly enamored of liars. Reads a lot. Likes birds. All I ask of others is that they try to be good to their fellow monkeys. That, and occasionally to buy me a beer.

Like water, I am soothing to the mind and possibly your eyes. I work out some but prefer long walks through the city or the woods a few times a week. I swim laps at the Y but would much rather be kayaking or canoeing with you somewhere.

Hey there. My name is Ron. I'm currently a graduate student at UNC. When I'm not at work, I'm most likely doing something outdoors or hanging out with friends. I run fairly often, and also like playing volleyball, tennis, football, swimming and skiing. I try to avoid staying home as much as possible (but the DVR is slowly changing that). I'd like to hike a big chunk of the Appalachian Trail this summer when my internship is over. I also really like food a lot, good food. I'm one of those people that can eat eat eat and never gain weight.

Though I pay my bills writing quippy headlines and disposable copy, I favor convoluted narratives--digressive, not quite linear, and occasionally illogical. I come from a charmingly dysfunctional family of epic storytellers and practitioners of the amateur filibuster, from whom I have inherited a distrust of efficiency and black and white solutions. I like contradiction, which is sometimes misidentified as hypocrisy. I enjoy lively debate and have no hesitation about playing the devil's advocate when circumstances allow for it. I often play diplomat, though I flatter myself to think I'm any good at it.

I'm a fairly social animal. I entertain often and I'm told I'm pretty good at it. I'm equally comfortable at a black tie function and in a smoke drenched dive bar listening to a garage band playing at tinnitus-inducing volumes (I always enjoy the opportunity to do both in the same night). I'm a graduate student in mathematics at UNC and I teach there as well. I am originally from Michigan where I earned a Master's degree from Central Michigan University (in math). I did my undergraduate work in computer science. I moved to Carrboro about a year ago and have enjoyed living here more than anywhere I've ever lived.

I enjoy cooking and dining out. I love all food and enjoy eating everything from fast-food hamburgers and fries to sashimi and my homemade gumbo. I am pretty easy going and am looking for someone who is pretty similiar, not too serious all the time. I am very political and watch politics daily.
I still love music and rock and roll is still very important to me. I am looking to meet someone who is funny, kind and considerate and definitely not judgemental.When two people get together at the beginning, they seem to be "on their best behavior). I prefer the naturalness of people from the onset. Afterall, people are people and shouldn't change for anyone other than themselves, otherwise it doesn't work.

I just moved here to start grad school at UNC and joined OKC to meet new people. I'm studying toxicology and I know what you're thinking--no, not forensics. What I really want to do is combine my love of health and the environment to help people. But like an onion, I have many layers :)...I also love music, sports (especially soccer and tennis), arts, reading, running, playing games, being outdoors, and just spending time with my friends/family. Oh, and indulging my sweet tooth by baking super delicious things. Laughter gets me through life and summer is my favorite season because it has all my favorite things: warmth, sunshine, ice cream.

I have not yet figured out whether I identify more with Calvin or Hobbes. The part of me that wants to curl up in a ball and sleep in the sunshine (and then pounce mercilessly upon whomever comes home) wars constantly with the part of me that wants to rig a toboggan to see if I can make it into Mach 2 on the local sledding hill (not that there are any sledding hills around here, sadly). Also like Calvin and Hobbes, I spend a lot of time thinking about deeper life issues and wondering if some kind of cosmic joke is being played on us. But I haven't come to a conclusion yet.

What to say about myself. I am smart, like making fun of myself and others. I like hanging out and am into sports. I fence (hitting people). I like outdoor activities. Mostly though at the moment I'm being a grad student.

I like good food, and alcohol, good conversation, and cold weather

I don't like writing about myself (if you couldn't tell) also I dislike hot water (although I love swimming).

I moved to Carrboro after taking a few months off to bike around North Carolina (almost 2000 miles). Before that I lived in Raleigh, attending college, living for a period of time in a ridiculous activist house, and I'm now transferring to a new school in my new area. I live with my housemate's two cats, who are probably the most frustrating animals that I have ever dealt with. They're still pretty cool though.

I like exploring the world, going new places and meeting anyone and everyone. I have a love hate relationship with coffee. I feel like I'm starting too many sentences with the word I. I'm excited because I just managed to accidentally both start and finish a sentence with the word I. (Twice!!)

Update - I have just acquired a motorcycle. Exploration has begun!! Who knew there were all these... PLACES around here.

Update 11/7 - Motorcyle is NOT the ideal mode of transportation in the winter. Wind chill is insane!! I'm going to Italy next week. I'm fantastically excited.

It's hard to summarize myself in a small white box, but generally I'm laid back, interested in things that are mentally stimulating, and I am looking for fun, entertaining things to do with my free time now that I actually have some. I'm into books, computer games, I've recently developed an interest in sports cars and racing (would eventually like to learn to drive on a real track, but I probably need to actually become decent with a manual first). I'm generally open to new things but can sometimes be a bit shy around new people.

I believe in fate, and suspect this whole web-dating thing is a sham. I can be really blunt and painfully honest too. i mean well though...i promise. I'm indie-ish. Beyond that, I also do extremely non-indie, outdoorsy things when I get the chance.

I'm big on experiencing nature. I love mountains, hiking, camping, snow, fall leaves, and animals that are larger than microscopic (megafauna). I suppose I'm somewhat of an environmentalist although I'm not firebombing institutions over it.

Music and poetry are important...both making and hearing/reading it. I generally appreciate the arts, and occasionally take good photographs :) i love the pedestrian, music, bike, tree, and art-friendly small-town community vibe of Carrboro. I'm originally from Columbia, SC, and I like to make at least a couple of trips to Boone, NC and Lynchburg, VA every year if I can make the time.

People have complimented me on my dancing and on my endurance on the soccer field. If I could combine snowboarding with flyfishing, I would make that my job. Unfortunately, researching physiology is far from either of these.

I'm an intelligent, nice guy with a good sense of humor. I love to travel, meet new people, and live it up! :) I've moved around quite a lot, but I've decided to settle down in the Triangle, and I'm really looking forward to it. I've been fortunate enough to do a good amount of traveling in my life and I feel like I'm a very cultured, open-minded person. Despite that, I am very down to earth and love to goof off and have fun. Life is short, and I don't like to take it too seriously :)

The truth about charlie: I never do anything at the appropriate hour, say the right thing at the right time, or go to the gym before 10:30 pm. I straddle the line between awkward and uncomfortable and can't spell to save my life. I like vanilla ice cream and brownie batter and i am writing this instead of writing a paper. I rarely if ever am satisfied with anything and spend approx 30% of any given day on facebook and an additionally 30% writing out lists/organizing. Yes, my books are organized by author and by physical height and my movies are organized by genre. I am not a particularly good person and I am not particularly talented. I am however hungry to learn everything (if too ADD to sit still for it) and fiercely protective of the people I love. I work too hard and too much and give 110 whenever possible and just plain 10 whenever possible. And that's enough for me for now.

I'm a student at UNC majoring in geology. It's a great field that involves a lot of travel which is one of my absolute favorite things to do! I want to see as much of the world as I possibly can. I'm working hard to balance doing well in school with spending time with friends and having fun...Chapel Hill is a great yet distracting town. I like to stay active with a variety of sports: swimming, racquetball, hiking, etc. I'm willing to try any kind of food at least once...I've yet to try a style of food that I didn't like.

I am a new addition to Carborro, NC working as a software developer. I enjoy playing eurogames, drinking coffee, and sampling Chinese and Mexican food outlets, or just plain good burgers.

Sometimes, I am very happy staying in and watching movies, playing board or video games, or listening to music and reading a good book. I love to go out to a salsa class, and practice the new steps on over the weekend.
